CHRIST FINISHED WORK AT CALVARY
CHRIST FINISHED WORK AT CALVARY
The work of Christ at Calvary is complete and all-sufficient. The cross is not partial or unfinished. Let’s list out the complete works of Calvary, backed with scriptures:
The Complete Work of Calvary
1. Forgiveness of Sins
📖 Ephesians 1:7 – “In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
At Calvary, Jesus shed His blood to cancel the record of sin and grant us full pardon.
*Colossians 2:13–14* – “Having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us…”
1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
2. Redemption from the Curse
📖 Galatians 3:13 – “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.”
The curse of sin, death, poverty, and bondage was broken at the cross.
3. Reconciliation with God
📖 Colossians 1:20 – “And, having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself…”
The barrier of sin that separated man from God was removed. Now we have peace with God.
4. Justification (Declared Righteous)
📖 Romans 5:9 – “Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”
The guilty sinner is declared righteous because of the cross.
5. Sanctification (Made Holy)
📖 Hebrews 13:12 – “Wherefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered without the gate.”
Through Calvary, believers are set apart and made holy unto God.
6. Healing and Wholeness
📖 Isaiah 53:5 – “…with His stripes we are healed.”
📖 1 Peter 2:24 – “…by whose stripes ye were healed.”
Christ bore our sicknesses and pains, providing healing for body, soul, and spirit.
7. Deliverance from Satan’s Power
📖 Colossians 2:14–15 – “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances… and having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
At Calvary, Satan was disarmed, stripped of authority, and defeated.
8. Victory Over Death and Hell
📖 Hebrews 2:14 – “…that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.”
📖 Revelation 1:18 – “I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore… and have the keys of hell and of death.”
Death lost its sting at the cross and resurrection.
9. Adoption into God’s Family
📖 John 1:12 – “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.”
The cross made us children of God, not just forgiven sinners.
10. Access to God’s Presence
📖 Hebrews 10:19–20 – “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh.”
The veil was torn at Calvary, giving us free access into God’s presence.
Hebrews 4:16 "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."
11. Peace and Rest
📖 John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you…”
📖 Colossians 1:20 – “Having made peace through the blood of His cross…”
Through Calvary, the believer enjoys peace with God and the peace of God.
12. Eternal Salvation
📖 Hebrews 5:9 – “And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him.”
The salvation Jesus gives is not temporary, but eternal.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
