PRODUCTIVITY
PRODUCTIVITY
Productivity: This word was impressed in my mind as I woke up the early hours of Wednesday 27th August 2025 .
Productivity is not just about being busy; it is about bearing fruit and achieving results that align with God’s purpose for our lives. In Scripture, productivity is seen in the light of fruitfulness, diligence, stewardship, and impact. God created man not for idleness, but for fruitful labor that glorifies Him and blesses others.
Productivity is God’s will for His children, it is not just about doing more, but about producing results that glorify God.
In Scripture, productivity is called fruitfulness. God expects us to be fruitful in our work, our character, and our service to His Kingdom.
1. Productivity Begins with Purpose
Genesis 1:28 – “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it…”
Man was created with a divine mandate to be fruitful and to add value. Productivity is not optional, it is part of our original assignment.
God gave man a divine assignment to be fruitful and to multiply.
You cannot be productive if you don’t know your purpose.
Application: Seek God’s will for your life, career, family, and ministry. Productivity without purpose is wasted energy.
To be productive, one must align with God’s purpose. True productivity flows from knowing why you exist and what God has called you to do.
2. Diligence is the Pathway to Productivity
Proverbs 22:29 – “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
Laziness leads to waste, but diligence brings promotion and excellence.
Diligence means doing work with excellence, consistency, and attention to detail, not just activity without results.
Laziness and excuses kill productivity.
Application: Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Commit to doing things well, not halfway.
God rewards the hand of the diligent with fruitfulness and open doors.
3. Faithfulness in Little Things
Luke 16:10 – “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much…”
Productivity is cultivated by being faithful in small tasks.
Great destinies are often tested in little responsibilities. If you are not productive in what looks “small,” you cannot be entrusted with greater opportunities.
God tests our productivity with small opportunities before entrusting us with greater ones.
Faithfulness today opens doors tomorrow.
Value every task, no matter how small. Treat it as an assignment from God.
4. Abiding in Christ: The Secret of True Fruitfulness
John 15:5 – “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
Spiritual productivity flows from intimacy with Christ.
Many people are busy but not fruitful because they are disconnected from the Vine. Without God’s grace and direction, productivity becomes mere struggle.
Without Christ, all our efforts will lead to frustration.
True productivity is spiritual before it is physical.
Stay connected to Jesus through prayer, the Word, and obedience. Your fruitfulness depends on your relationship with Him.
5. Time Management and Discipline
Ephesians 5:16 – “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
Time is one of the greatest resources God has given us.
A productive Christian is disciplined and intentional about how they use time.
Avoid procrastination. Focus on activities that bring results and glorify God.
Time is one of God’s greatest resources. A productive believer does not waste time on unprofitable things.
Every season has an assignment. Misused time leads to missed opportunities. Discipline helps us prioritize what matters most.
Imagine a student who wastes his study time watching TV, then tries to cram overnight. Contrast that with one who studied consistently. The difference in results is huge.
Real-Life Example: Social media consumes hours daily for many, yet they complain of not having enough time to pray, read, or work on goals.
Redeem your time. Cut out distractions. Be intentional with every day, time wasted can never be recovered.
6. Productivity as a Blessing to Others
Acts 20:35 – “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
True productivity is not self-centered. It should bring value to others, create solutions, and advance God’s Kingdom.
Productivity is kingdom-minded when it blesses people, provides for families, and supports the work of God.
Productivity is not just for personal success but for adding value to others.
Real-Life Example: Joseph in Egypt was productive not just for himself, but to preserve nations during famine. His productivity blessed millions.
Our fruitfulness should bless families, communities, and advance the Kingdom of God.
Ask yourself: who benefits from my productivity? Am I a channel of blessing or only a consumer?
Conclusion
Productivity is not measured merely by activity but by fruitfulness, impact, and alignment with God’s will. A productive life is one that:
1. Knows God’s purpose.
2. Walks diligently.
3. Remains faithful in little things.
4. Abides in Christ.
5. Redeems time wisely.
6. Adds value to others.
When we live productively, we glorify God, fulfill destiny, and become channels of blessing to our generation.
Final Illustration: Jesus cursed the fig tree that looked busy with leaves but bore no fruit (Mark 11:13–14). Likewise, God is not impressed with our leaves (activities); He is looking for fruit (results).
